Syngenta Australia and #PlantASeedForSafety are launching a photo competition. This is their first joint project.

The competition celebrates people who show outstanding leadership in health, safety, and well-being across rural Australia. These champions embody #SafetySwagger. The goal is to promote positive farm safety messages and inspire the agricultural community.

Who can enter?

The competition is open to:

  • Farmers
  • Farm workers
  • Farm advisors
  • Members of the agricultural community

Nominate someone in your life who goes above and beyond to prioritise well-being in their farming community.

How to enter

To enter, you need:

  • A photo of your #SafetySwagger hero showing real-life examples of health, safety, and well-being on farm
  • A 250-word description explaining why they have #SafetySwagger

The competition showcases practices and actions that create safer and healthier rural workplaces.

"We are excited to launch this photo competition in partnership with #PlantASeedForSafety," said Paul Luxton, Managing Director and Country Head at Syngenta Australia New Zealand.

"It provides a platform to recognise and celebrate individuals who demonstrate exceptional leadership in health, safety, and well-being. Through their inspiring stories and images, we hope to promote positive farm safety messages."

Competition details

The competition runs for nearly two months. A panel of judges will evaluate entries based on:

  • Strong connection with rural, regional and/or remote Australia
  • Positive impact on health, safety, and well-being
  • Potential to inspire others in the agricultural community

Judges include representatives from the Syngenta Rural Health, Safety and Wellbeing Steering Committee and #PlantASeedForSafety.

Prizes

One winner and one runner-up will be selected. Prizes will be awarded to both the nominator and nominee in each case.

"The competition aims to showcase what great leadership looks like in rural health, safety and wellbeing," said Alex Thomas, Founder of PlantASeedforSafety. "It shines a spotlight on the strengths of our industry and shares positive messages about farm safety."

"#SafetySwagger means different things to different people. In short, it's someone who walks the talk and prioritises health, safety and wellbeing. By showcasing their stories, we'll inspire others and create safer rural communities."

Winning entries will be featured on the websites and social media platforms of both Syngenta Australia and #PlantASeedForSafety.
