Tania Chapman is a true advocate for the citrus industry.
Her passion of leading by example has seen her rise to be the chair of the industry’s peak body – Citrus Australia – and be the go-to person for her growers. She has put herself forward to represent them on many bodies and is happy to speak on their behalf to lobby for the growers on all things citrus.
Along with chairing Citrus Australia, Tania is a Nuffield Scholarship recipient, has been appointed to the Expert Advisory Panel on Leadership with Horticulture Innovation and is regularly asked to share her knowledge and experiences to different groups around Australia and abroad, all of which have earned Tania a worthy nomination in to the Community & People category.
Tania says too often people within industries leave it to others to do the work and her willingness to be that person is something she hopes inspires others to get involved.
She is aware of the place of the Australian citrus industry in the world scene, producing just 0.1 per cent of global production. But Tania continues to push growers to find the latest information, to support research and development and to strive to maintain the nation’s excellent reputation for producing high quality citrus.
Tania wants the industry to thrive and to be an area young people want to be involved in so she gives time to promoting the exciting aspects of what she sees as a vibrant industry.
