Due to increased community transmission of COVID-19, Syngenta has decided to cancel programmed events scheduled for Thursday 20 January, 2022 at Woodside in the Adelaide Hills. We believe this is the best way to ensure the health and safety of our customers and staff during this time. In place of this event, we plan to share photos and videos from the site with you in coming editions of Hort News.

This way, you can still discover what is new in viticulture crop protection. With three new fungicidal products on site, make sure you’re up to date, you can manage your subscriptions here.

Should you wish to see the site for yourself, please contact your local Syngenta representative to organise a mutually convenient time. Please note that all visits to Syngenta sites will be conducted in accordance with our COVID-Safe commitment*.

*At Syngenta we take the health and safety of our staff, customers and community seriously. Due to community COVID-19 transmission within Australia, we are asking that guests at our events, and visitors to our sites and offices be fully vaccinated. Understanding our guest and visitor vaccination status helps us ensure a safe and comfortable environment for everyone. We have also worked closely with our employees in respect to minimising the possible transmission of COVID-19 and all Syngenta staff are expected to be vaccinated. In addition, A COVID-Safe plan is in place for Syngenta events and guests will be expected to adhere to the requirements including checking in (& showing proof of vaccination), physical distancing, the use of hand sanitiser and the use of face masks (inside, including on all forms of shared transport). We also ask that you confirm vaccination status on accepting an invitation to our event.

Speakers:

Marcel Essling - Senior Viticulturist
Marcel is responsible for compiling the industry ‘Dog Book’ which includes details of registered products used in Australia viticulture. In consultation with the agrochemical reference group and crop protection companies, Marcel confirms and recommends product use in Australian conditions.

Dr Rohan Kimber - Senior Research Scientist
Having worked for SARDI since 1996, Rohan transferred his knowledge from pulse pathology to new technology in development of the iMapPESTS Sentinel surveillance systems designed to rapidly and accurately monitor airborne pests and diseases in many crops across Australia. Field deployments of Sentinels aims provide fast-tracked, regional pest information directly to growers and consultants.

Nick Hall - Southern Horticulture Manager
Nick commenced with Syngenta in September 2016 as a Territory Sales Manager and has been the Southern Horticultural manager for the past three years. He has been involved in viticultural agronomy for 24 years and has worked across much of southern Australia in that time.

Dr Brandy (Belinda) Rawnsley - Technical Services Lead – Horticulture & Viticulture
A qualified plant pathologist with a PhD in grapevine diseases, Brandy has a combined 23 years’ experience in viticultural and horticultural research at SARDI and AgXtra. With Syngenta for two years, Brandy is responsible for technical support and advice for Syngenta’s existing portfolio and bringing new crop protection products to market.

In memory of Randell Taylor
Randell played a vital role as Trace Analysis Laboratory Manager as part of Commercial Services. Along with providing residue analysis and consultation, his knowledge and advice assisted the development of new products to support the safety and quality of Australian wine. We remember Randell for his unwavering enthusiasm and intellect and thank him for his long-standing partnership with Syngenta.
