Richard Daniel

Technical, Northern Grower Alliance - HARLAXTON QLD

CATEGORY: PRODUCTIVITY

Richard Daniel is a technical adviser based in Northern NSW and Southern Qld and has spent over 30 years in agricultural R&D. Richard has been nominated in the Productivity category for his passion in evaluating potential solutions to problems faced by consultants and growers across key cropping areas in the Northern grains region.

Richard is highly regarded in the Industry as a “go to” contact for issues and solutions in Southern QLD and Northern NSW. Part of Richard’s extension activity includes presenting at a wide range of industry events including GRDC updates for both growers and consultants.

In 2006, Richard was appointed to develop a new model to deliver regional and applied agronomic research – the Northern Grower Alliance (NGA). The primary focus of the NGA is to design and conduct projects on industry prioritised issues, in a highly responsive and scientifically sound framework.

The NGA has grown to become a team of eight and operates with a regional or nodal structure. Local Research Groups have been established in six key production areas: Darling Downs, Mungindi/Balonne, Goondiwindi, Moree/Narrabri, Walgett and the Liverpool Plains, with a clear focus of identifying and prioritising agronomic production issues faced in each area. The Local Research Groups are also an important conduit for the rapid and widespread communication of project outcomes.
