Howard Clarke has a longstanding association with the New Zealand arable industry with 25 years’ experience working with crop protection products. Howard has been nominated in the Productivity category for his commitment to furthering the New Zealand arable industry.
Currently, Howard is a director of Independent Crop Care Distributors (ICD) and on the board of Farming for Arable Research (FAR). He’s a specialist in application of agricultural chemicals for arable farming, pasture and brush weeds.
What has become a longstanding career is based on a passion for the New Zealand Arable industry which extends further than what is noted above, with his first documented association being a Bachelor in Agricultural Science majoring in farm management, agronomy and soils. From here he entered into a farming partnership while working part-time for an agricultural reseller from 1985-2000.
Howard’s experience and resulting wealth of agronomy knowledge combined with vast industry contacts has in turn led to the formation of Advance Agriculture Ltd in 2001. Howards and three others; Iain Wilson, Ross Wilson and David Kirk are in partnership of Advance Agriculture, an agricultural chemical supplier based in Gore, offering technically-focussed, personalised advice to clients in Otago and Southland. Areas of expertise cover pasture, arable farming, brushweed control and application technology. Attention to detail and a commitment to their customers has seen Advance Agriculture grow at a rapid rate over the past 14 years to now having an extensive customer base, employing 19 and are now considered a market leader in the greater Southland and Otago regions.
