Bill Crabtree is a very busy man. He juggles his agronomy consultancy business on top of managing the 2,800 ha family farm at Morawa, Western Australia. Bill is very well known throughout the agricultural industry, as he pioneered the adoption of no-till both locally and globally, which makes him a great nomination into the Sustainability category.
He began his career at the Department of Ag in WA researching no-till and crop nutrition and has been the author of many scientific papers, before moving into a role with WANTFA where he extended his findings and eventually helped his state towards a 95% adoption rate of no-till.
For a brief period from 2005-2008 he was a lecturer at Curtin University on sustainable agriculture. Bill is also a passionate advocate for GM technology, and dedicates a lot of his time to informing the agricultural industry and general public of the long term benefits of GM technology in improving the sustainability of Australian and global farming systems.
Bill is well networked throughout the international agricultural community, and uses these connections to host international tours with local growers each year to. He also personally travels to speak at various conferences.
