GROWTH AWARDS 2014 WINNER: PRODUCTIVITY

Farming is in Mick Broad’s blood. A third generation farmer, he studied at Roseworthy Agricultural College and worked as a shearer and jackaroo before returning to the Eyre Peninsula. Since then he has dedicated the past 23 years to agronomy and is part owner of Landmark Cummins Ag Services.

Mick currently runs extensive client interaction programs using localised trials to create best management practices for the area. He is passionate about communicating this information with his growers to achieve the best bottom line. Mick also produces an information booklet to share the latest developments. Mick’s work centres around the promotion of early sowing to allow farmers to capitalise on water and nutrients.

“This enhances the possibility of growing the best crops with the greatest return. Increasing water efficiencies and implementing an integrated weed management system assist with long-term sustainability and ongoing productivity.”
