Farming is certainly a family affair for Matt Hood. A third generation farmer, he was raised on the property near Gatton that his family has operated for the last 102 years. After studying civil engineering at university he moved back to Gatton to work in the family business.
Developing and maintaining the farm viability has been his passion since returning home. Matt has secured his position as an industry leader through his “first to market” approach on vegetable varieties.
As a Coles Strategic Supplier, Matt has also worked to review the business product supply chain to ensure the quality of vegetables is not compromised in its journey from farm to consumer.
“Horticulture is a competitive industry however it is important for local grower groups to enhance their information sharing. I am active on many boards and growers groups and want to ensure that our industry sees greater financial stability and long-term sustainability.”
